I recently got into trouble with my Galaxy SII Android. I played around with the pattern unlock too many times and got locked out, having to enter the Google username and password.
So I entered my Google credentials, but nothing happened! Invalid Username and password was all I got. Googling the problem gave me many options to try, but none of them worked for me and I sadly reached the conclusion that I’d have to do a factory reset.
Pressing the power button to start the factory reset.. I noticed the Data Network mode in the power options menu. Now since I already had a data network connection, figured I might as well give it a shot and enabled it.
Then I re-entered my Google credentials to unlock the phone and voila!.. the credentials were authenticated, the phone unlocked and directly took me to the screen unlocking options.
I am now a happy and wiser user of the ‘Swipe screen to unlock’ rather than the fascinating but troublemaker patterns. :)
So here are the steps once more, minus the phrases and story of my troubles and travails..
Note: You need to have a ‘Data Network’ already enabled on your phone for this to work.
1. Press and hold the Power button until the Power options show up.
2. Select the ‘Data network mode’, which will enable the net connection (as it did for me).
3. Enter your username and password for authentication. The OS should now connect to Google and authenticate your credentials and unlock the phone.
Let me know if this worked for you as it did for me.
